Robin's Success Stories

Success stories

Executive coaching is all about the client taking action and achieving results. Here are three short success stories of clients I've worked with.

1. Ready For Promotion

The challenge
An executive wanted to enhance his personal leadership skills, in particular his people and communication skills.

The process
I worked with the executive, his supervisor and his colleagues to map out some measurable and achievable goals. The initial aims were for him to develop a greater sense of self-awareness of his developmental needs, and then to devise an action plan to achieve the desired goals.

The results
After several months of coaching, we did a 360-degree feedback process, particularly related to the executive's leadership skills, and the results showed significant improvement. All key stakeholders agreed that the executive had developed into a more effective leader and was suitable for future advancement.

2. From Techie to Manager

The challenge
A technically oriented executive wanted to improve his strategic and business-planning skills.

The process
As part of a thorough assessment and coaching process, I worked closely with the executive to help him identify and plan the critical assignments that would require the key strategic and business-planning skills over the following 12 months

The results
The executive's strategic and business capabilities were greatly enhanced. As a result, he soon took up a general-management role in a key business unit, with the objective of stepping him up for a key succession planning position within six months.

3. Building Credibility

The challenge
A newly promoted executive from Europe took up a challenging assignment in the PRC and was facing issues with establishing his leadership presence and being assertive about decision-making.

The process
I worked with the executive to help him to establish a plan for his first 90 days, to ensure that his priorities and resource allocation were appropriately balanced. At the same time, I worked closely with him on his leadership presence to fast-track him to credibility in his new role.

The results
The executive soon become independent, and gained the confidence to manage the business effectively and successfully. He now enjoys greater respect from his colleagues in China, and his immediate supervisor has given him an extended three-year contract with a bigger geographic role for Greater China.
